This is a free tutorial. That said, tipping is appreciated. ❤️
Do not let watercolors intimidate you! In this tutorial, I will show you how to make beautiful artwork using the wet-on-wet watercolor technique, and also adding pens. Make your own greeting cards or something worthy of framing to decorate your space! This is an all-abilities project, perfect for both adults as well as kids, and is also a fun project for those with dexterity issues.
The thing to remember about this project is perfection is NOT the goal! We are literally just painting splotches, either with a brush or with our fingers, and seeing where the water and pigments take us. And explore! Notice how the paints want to blend with each other and combine to create new colors!
The hardest bit: waiting for the paint to dry! If you’re impatient (like me) you can always grab a hair dryer, and on the low, cool setting, blast your paper until it’s dry. Or, let it sit for at least 45 minutes to an hour, and get back to it later for the inking.
The ultimate point is to relax, unwind, and make some great art!
Let’s get started!
Supplies:
Watercolor paper (or heavy cardboard stock)
Watercolor palette
Brush
Pen of your choice
Water
Spray bottle with water
Masking tape (or painter’s tape)
If you are also making greeting cards, you will also need:
Envelopes
Paper cutter or ruler and scissors
