Make Your Own Sterling Silver Earring Hooks
As we all know, sterling silver prices have increased exponentially over the past two years, making even the smallest elements in your essential jewelry findings much more expensive. Whether you make earrings for your small business or as a hobby for your personal jewelry collection and gifts, you might be frustrated with how expensive earring hooks have become. If you make them yourself, you’ll find that the cost per pair is about the same as what you paid for commercially made hooks back when sterling silver was super affordable. And, it’s not only easy to make your own earring hooks, but it also does not take up too much time.
Give me about two minutes or so, and I’ll show you how to make your own earring hooks. You’ll likely never buy mass-produced earring hooks again!
Supplies:
2 2 inch lengths of 20 gauge wire (I’m using sterling silver; any hypoallergenic metal will do)
Round nose pliers
Chain nose pliers
Ring mandrel (or any tool to bend wire around)
Metal file
