Garnet Bracelet

Garnets are most often formed in metamorphic rock (such as shale).  Under intense heat and pressure, the rock essentially melts, and as it cools, recrystalizes into the stone we know as garnet.  If there is enough iron present in the metamorphic rock, the garnets will become maroon-brown (as pictured) to a deep pomegranate red.  A 6.5 - 7.5 on the Mohs Scale, these are sturdy stones suitable for daily wear, January’s birthstone is thought to be associated with new beginnings.
